What is NATRUE?

NATRUE is a Brussels-based international nonprofit association committed to promoting and protecting natural and organic cosmetics worldwide.

Founded in 2007, NATRUE provides a home to all true friends of Natural and Organic Cosmetics and welcomes all who commit to their high standards of quality and integrity.

The NATRUE Label represents a reliable, verifiable and internationally applicable benchmark for authentic natural and organic beauty products from committed brands and manufacturers all around the world.

Ingredients Classification

  • Natural Ingredients: Obtained directly from plants, animals (excluding dead vertebrates), or minerals via physical, enzymatic, or microbiological processes.
  • Derived Natural Ingredients: Modified from 100% natural ingredients using only allowed chemical reaction processes (no petrochemical origin).
  • Nature-Identical Ingredients: Only specific pigments, minerals, and preservatives listed in the NATRUE Annex (reproduced in the lab for purity/technical reasons) are permitted.

Strict Prohibitions

  • No GMOs: Genetically Modified Organisms and ingredients produced from them are strictly prohibited.
  • No Synthetics: Artificial synthetic substances such as silicones (e.g., dimethicone), parabens, and phenoxyethanol are not allowed.
